Volunteers can make a unique home removals contribution to probation work by using their own skills to support probation staff in addressing the needs of offenders.

The nature of the relationship is intrinsically different to that with the supervising officer. It can form an important part of offender engagement and compliance.

Volunteers are often able to make offenders aware of how members of the public view and experience crime and can represent the communities we serve. They can also play an important part in building local confidence in the justice system.

Volunteers bring a wide range of skills and experience to our removals organisation. They provide general help and support, take part in structured removals group work and activities and offer one to one support on issues such as literacy and numeracy.
